Weaving Philippine Textiles: Learning Through Making

$134.00

Saturday September 12
10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Instructor: Timothy Manalo

Materials Fee: $35.00 (paid directly to the Instructor)
Students: 12

In this hands-on workshop, we will explore the rich diversity of traditional Philippine textiles, the different regions they come from, and the stories they carry. Working on a frame-loom, we will focus on relevant weaving forms such as the supplementary weft, inlay, and interlocking techniques, to create our own pieces inspired by the symbols, patterns, and materials in Philippine textile designs. This workshop will also include a special sharing of rare and unique Philippine textiles gathered from Toronto’s Filipino diasporic community.
