We're delighted to welcome Kathy Hattori to the Contemporary Textile Studio Co-operative for a special one-day workshop exploring traditional Japanese natural dyes! Kathy will be sharing her expertise in working with these beautiful plant shades, with dyes such as Murasaki (Gromwell), Kuchinashi (Gardenia Pods), and Yomogi (Mugwort), and introducing the traditional Japanese "mid-mordanting" technique. This is a sampling workshop, and you will come away with a set of ten dye colours on a range of materials including kimono silk, handwoven ramie, and Sashiko threads. All materials and dyes are provided.
