Touch is the Mother: A Quilt Trunk Show with Judy Martin

$30.00

Saturday July 25
2:00 - 4:00 pm at Contemporary Textile Studio
4:00 - 5:00 pm at Craft Ontario gallery, casual walk through of Earlier and Later: New Quilts by April Martin and Judy Martin

Join Manitoulin Island artist Judy Martin for a rare hands-on experience of her award-winning textiles. Currently exhibiting several new quilts in Earlier and Later, a two-person exhibition with her artist daughter April Martin at the Craft Ontario Gallery, Judy will offer a special walkthrough of the exhibition as part of this engaging digital and hands-on lecture.

Touch Is the Mother explores Judy's artistic journey and her belief in the healing power of hand stitching. Presented in the spirit of a quilt guild trunk show, the lecture will feature a selection of works spanning her long career, giving participants the opportunity to examine her textiles up close and learn about the ideas and processes behind them.

Many people may already know Judy through her long-running blog, Judy's Journal, where themes of time, care, memory, and making have been central to her practice. This lecture offers a rare opportunity to meet Judy in person and experience the richness, texture, and presence of her work firsthand.
