In this two-day workshop, students will learn how to use discarded textiles as dyeing tools by re-purposing colour using a heat press. Due to low prices and rapid trend cycles in the fast-fashion industry, there is an abundance of garment waste being produced. This heat printing technique is a way to transfer the imprint from a garment onto another textile piece, providing a new function for the over-abundance of textile waste.

Wille-Meike has discovered a new printing technique to re-use colours from polyester textiles that are typically discarded to print over and over again, providing an "endless" new function. The printing process only takes a few seconds, leaving unique and surprising outcomes. Variations of color, print and the printing of layers provide infinite creative possibilities.

Wille-Meike Brand is a multidisciplinary artist based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, working within the field of sustainable textile design.
